Excerpt from Paradiso, The Divine Comedy Ballet

Dante is exploring the first sphere of Paradiso - the moon sphere - the slowest of all the spheres in the heavens (Paradiso II-IV). With each sphere that Dante advances, they rotate at higher and higher speeds until he reaches the Empyrean. Based on Dante Alighieri's vision of his journey through the afterlife which began in the 'Inferno', and culminates in emerging through heaven or 'Paradiso'. Anna Betz choreographed this for Kanopy Dance Company, a modern dance company in Madison, WI in spring of 2016. Performed at the Overture Center for the Performing Arts in the Promenade Theater.
